About the Teacher

Greetings from the SES Counselor's Office. I'm excited to be joining the SES family and cannot wait to get to know your wonderful kiddos. I graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2003 "Hotty Toddy" with a B.A. in Special Education. I started as a self-contained/inclusion teacher at Olive Branch Middle School. I taught for one year with the North Panola School District before transferring to H.W. Byers Middle & High Schools where I taught for five years. I completed my master's in school counseling at William Carey University in December 2009. Last year I completed my specialist in school counseling at the University of West Alabama. I transferred to Byhalia Elementary School in July of 2010 as a counselor. This is my eighteenth year in education. I am married to Theotis Simmons and we have a trilogy blessing named Omari, Megan & Braylen. They are pretty active with sports so my life is controlled by their active lives. When I get a moment, I love pretty beaches and spending time with family. School counseling is my passion because I generally care about people and their emotional state. I believe that a healthy mind is pertinent to a healthy person. Please contact me if I can be of any assistance.
