Behavior
Students are to follow all school, bus, and classroom rules. I will keep up with student behavior each day. When students misbehave, there will be four questions that I will ask them: 1. What are you doing? 2. What are you supposed to be doing? 3. Are you doing it? 4. What are you going to do about it? If the student chooses to behave out of the classroom, he or she will be sent to the office. A behavior chart will be sent home each week to inform the parent/guardian of the student’s behavior if needed.

Social Contract
We created a social contract and each student signed the contract. Everyone is expected to follow the social contract of the class.

Teacher Website
This will be the most helpful tool to you as a parent and a student! On my website you will find important information such as special dates that are coming up, what the students will be learning each week, lunch menu, class schedule, rules and procedures, announcements, and sometimes even class photos!

School and Classroom Procedures

Hallway: Students are to walk quietly in a straight line on the right side of the hallway, keeping their hands and feet to themselves.

Restroom: Students should be in and out within a timely manner. Students that are waiting should be standing in line quietly, keeping their hands and feet to themselves. Bathroom monitors will make sure that trash is being disposed of properly in the trash can and that no one is playing in the restroom. Students will be given restroom breaks. If a student needs to go to the restroom during class time, it will only be allowed for an emergency. Please send a doctor’s note to Mrs.Casey if a student has a medical issue.

Cafeteria: Students need to know their MSIS number to order lunch. Lunch area must be cleaned up before the student leaves the table. Students are to remain quiet in the lunch line and may talk once they get to their assigned lunch table.

Educational Materials: Students will keep all workbooks and notebooks in the classroom unless they are given permission to take them home. Students have bins at the end of each group where the materials are kept.

Affirmations: To build classroom community, we will focus on positivity. The students will write down something positive about another student in the classroom. At the end of the week, the students will collect their affirmations and read the great things their classmates have to say about them :)

Pencils and Paper
In this class, we will have community pencils and papers. This means, I will keep the pencils and paper and will distribute them as they are needed. I have found this to be very helpful because you do not have to buy paper and pencils as often, parents! Students will ALWAYS have what they need.
