All About Your Teacher

My name is Mrs. Sharen Putt and I am your child's teacher this year.  As a young child, I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher.  It was later in my life that I finally went back to school to accomplish my lifelong goal of teaching children.  I received my bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Mississippi.

This is my fourteenth year at Southaven Elementary School.  I was an assistant teacher in kindergarten and second grade.  I have taught first, third, fourth, and fifth.  Now I am pleased to be a fourth grade teacher.  Having all the grades as background knowledge has helped me to know where the students have been and where they are going.

I have recently gotten married so you may see my name as Ms. Davis or Mrs. Putt.  I have two daughters - both are grown and one is in college.  My oldest daughter is Alysha.  It has been interesting watching her grow into an adult.  I also have a granddaughter named Dakota and grandson named Connor.  Grandchildren are so much fun.  You really can spoil them and send them back home.  Kaitlyn is my youngest child and I don't think I have ever seen her unhappy.  She takes her school work very seriously which makes my job as a parent so much easier.  I am thankful for that because many times I am busy preparing for a classroom day and she is able to take care of her school work with little assistance from me.

I also have four pets.  I have four dogs.  Daphne was my first dog and she is a Jack Russell.  I also have a rescue dog named Buddy.  He is a mutt who weighs over 100 pounds most of which is fur.  Then there is Cola who my daughter was able to talk me into getting.  Our latest addition is Loki.  He is still a puppy, but I can't believe how quickly he is growing.

They all seem to get along if they follow these simple rules:

1)  Daphne is ultimately the boss.
2)  Respect Daphne at all times which means she gets to go first out the door.
3)  Cola believes he is a tiny dog and nobody should tell him.
4)  If there is a disagreement between the dogs, refer to rule # 1.

Well, that is about everything there is to know about me.  I am very excited to be your child's teacher.  If we work together as a team, your child will be successful in my class.
